This Privacy Policy explains how the Updato News mobile application ("Updato", "we", "us") handles information when you use the app. By using Updato, you agree to this policy.
Information We Collect
- No account required. Updato does not require you to create an account and does not collect your name, email, or other personally identifiable information unless you choose to email us.
- App preferences. Your selected language, bookmarks, and settings are stored locally on your device (not on our servers).
- Push notifications. To deliver news alerts, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging, which generates an anonymous device token. This token is not linked to your identity.
- Advertising. We use Google AdMob to show ads. Google may collect and use an advertising identifier and related data in accordance with Google's own policies.
- Analytics & crash data. We may use aggregated, anonymous diagnostics to keep the app stable. This does not identify you personally.
How We Use Information
- To display and refresh news content in your chosen language.
- To send optional news notifications (you can turn these off in your device settings).
- To show advertising that helps keep the app free.
- To diagnose and fix technical issues.
News Content & Sources
Updato is a news aggregator. Headlines and summaries are gathered from third-party publishers, and each article is attributed to its original source with a link back to the publisher's website. All article content belongs to the respective publishers and authors. If you are a publisher and wish to have content adjusted or removed, contact us at updatoapp@gmail.com.
Third-Party Services
We rely on services whose privacy practices are governed by their own policies, including Firebase and Google AdMob.
Data Sharing & Selling
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share personal information with third parties except as required to operate the services listed above or to comply with the law.
Children's Privacy
Updato is a general-audience news app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your Choices
- Disable notifications anytime in your device's app settings.
- Reset or limit ad personalization in your device's Google settings.
- Clear locally stored data by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling.
